THE ADVENTURES OF ROMY

The Adventures of Romy is a beautiful story of family and love both on a human level and also God’s love for people. It is also a fun horse story and dog story, and a story about farm life in Wales in a bygone century. We all enjoyed this gentle yet interesting story; when we were a few chapters into it, my 14-year-old commented that he really liked it. This wasn’t a book that kept us on the edge of our seats with suspense, but rather a gentle account of the realistic adventures of a young boy trying to find his place in the world. I liked the way Romy’s family expressed their faith in such a natural way. I highly recommend this book as a family read-aloud.

How it all began…

I started writing about Romy one summer holiday at Kai Iwi Lakes. It was a wet, windy day, and the whole family decided to each write a story that we would share around the campfire that night. And what a wonderful evening it was!
The following year, all the children asked for another adventure with Romy.
Some years later, here is the finished tale…
